Job description: The position involves work with private sector clients, primarily in the electric generating sector, and environmental organizations. Topics include, among others, assessing state, regional and federal environmental regulatory and legislative initiatives on: * air pollution control, * global climate change, * market-based regulation, * renewable energy. Beyond the assessment of these issues, the candidate will work with clients in developing strategic positions that promote the adoption of effective environmental and energy policies. The work includes significant research and writing, quantitative analysis of regulatory and legislative initiatives using databases and spreadsheets, and the design of graphic elements (e.g., charts and tables) for reports and presentations. The candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team with expertise in economics, law, engineering and policy. This is an entry level position for a candidate with 1-3 years of experience. Skill Prerequisites: The candidate should have an outstanding academic record; excellent organizational, interpersonal communication and writing skills; strong quantitative and computer skills; and familiarity with air pollution, climate change, and/or energy issues. For those who don't know, on January 31st Focus the Nation is organizing a day of teach-ins at colleges and universities all over the US. A day focused on discussions and solutions to global warming.<br />

Departmental Title:  Project Coordinator<br />

General Purpose:<br />
Reporting to the Director of the Office of Sustainability the Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordination of the campus sustainability committees, support Yale’s participation in various national and international sustainability networks and project based research relevant to campus sustainability activities. <br />

1.     Provide administrative, research and coordination support for the campus-wide sustainability committees including coordination of conferences, schedule of services, monitor and report of budget.<br />

2.     Excellent oral and written communication skills including public speaking skills.<br />

6.     Ability to understand and synthesize diverse research and outreach initiatives into a cogent whole. <br />

Green Corps is the non-profit Field School for Environmental Organizing, founded by leading environmentalists in 1992 to train environmental organizers. Our program includes intensive classroom training, hands-on experience running urgent environmental campaigns, and placement in permanent positions with leading environmental and social change groups.<br />

Classroom Training. Our intensive classroom training combines issue briefings, workshops and skills trainings to prepare you to run a grassroots campaign. Issue briefings include Clean Cars, Renewable Energy, Forests and Endangered Species. Strategy workshops include The Legislative Process, Social Change Methodology and Effective Media: Messaging and Framing.<br />
Finally, hands-on skills trainings include Leadership Development, Training Volunteers and Running Effective Meetings. Of course we couldn't let that stop us. So, we brought 36 students via the DREAM biodiesel/vegi-oil bus down to Montpelier.
