Established in 2005, the Yale Office of Sustainability is responsible for facilitating the integration of sustainability principles and practices into the operational functions and educational framework of the institution. This is manifest in the development of policies, practices and standards that lead to decisions which prioritize ecosystem health and human health in the context of economic viability. Departmental Title: Project Coordinator
Grade: 21
General Purpose:
Reporting to the Director of the Office of Sustainability the Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordination of the campus sustainability committees, support Yale’s participation in various national and international sustainability networks and project based research relevant to campus sustainability activities.
Essential Duties:
1. Provide administrative, research and coordination support for the campus-wide sustainability committees including coordination of conferences, schedule of services, monitor and report of budget.
2. Define and provide information in various formats by gathering data to supply departmental reports to the Director. Determine and develop monthly reports as needed by the Director. Coordinate schedules and timetables for projects in conjunction with the Director.
3. Provide project based research support. Products will include written reports, memo, internal presentations and data analysis. Subjects will range from climate neutrality to land management, transportation, waste etc
4. Oversee creation of short term granting program.
5. Maintain project status and other standards, guidelines and templates on Website.
6. Coordinate annual research assistant hiring process.
7. Manage and implement numerous special projects and overall support.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of two years professional experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred: Master’s degree in related field.
Skills and Abilities:
1. Strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated evidence as team player.
2. Excellent oral and written communication skills including public speaking skills.
3. Build coalitions with a diverse student, faculty, and staff population.
4. Proven leadership skills.
5. Strong analytic and strategic planning skills.
6. Ability to understand and synthesize diverse research and outreach initiatives into a cogent whole.
7. Significant working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
8. Proven ability to problem solve, be detail oriented and well organized.
